After completing her nursing education, Kris worked as a registered nurse in hospital emergency rooms and a nursing home, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to caring for others.
Throughout her life, Kris and her family moved frequently due to Frank's military career, raising their five children across various locations. In 2007, Kris and Frank returned to Pullman to care for her mother, Margaret, and to embrace the beauty of the Palouse region, which she loved dearly.
Kris was a woman of many talents and interests, including photography, crafting, scrapbooking, and sewing. An accomplished seamstress, her creative spirit was evident in everything she did. Above all, Kris was devoted to her family, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones. Kris is survived by her loving husband, Frank, their two sons, three daughters, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her sister Elisa. She was preceded in death by her parents, D.C. and Margaret Hatley.
