Cheney rodeo goes off without a hitch

McMillan won best all-around cowboy

The 56th annual Cheney Rodeo was held last weekend, July 12-14, at the Bi-Mart Arena in Cheney. Cowboys and cowgirls came from across the country to participate in the rodeo.

Caleb McMillan of Soap Lake, Wash., won all-around cowboy as he participated in bull riding, tie-down roping and steer wrestling.

Clay Stone, 27, of Blackfoot, Idaho, won the bareback riding event with 84.5 points on C5 Rodeo's horse named "Chasing Dreams." In steer wrestling, Cody Cabral, 35, of Hilo, Hawaii, won with a time of 4.4 seconds

For team roping, Steven and Taylor Duby, a father-son team from Hereford, Ore., won with a time of 6.0 seconds. In saddle bronc riding, Kyle Wanchuk, 22, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, won with a score of 81.5 points riding "Big W."

Mary Thomas won the barrel racing event with a time of 17.47 seconds. In bull riding, Colton Schneiderman, 25, of Deer park, Wash., won with a score of 78.5 while riding C5 Rodeo's "Pearl Snaps."
