It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Helen Bozarth on July 13, 2024, from a year long battle with cancer.
Nancy was born in Colfax Washington to Robert William Gylling and Alice Mildred (Manchester) Gylling on the July 18, 1957.
Nancy loved growing up in a small town. She excelled in academics and lettered in multiple sports. She was a lifeguard and developed a life long love of swimming.
Nancy loved to sing and received a scholarship to study voice at Washington State University. She continued her voice studies then switched to nursing. Nancy earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and an Associate's Degree in Nursing. She obtained these degrees while working full time at Sacred Heart Medical Center Open Heart Program in Spokane, Washington. Nancy continued as an Open Heart Surgical Nurse for 30 years. Nancy lived in Spokane, Washington; Omaha, Nebraska; San Antonio, Texas; and finally Juneau, Alaska while following her husband around during his medical training and practice. She loved her time in Juneau and established it as her home.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Gordon R Bozarth MD, her son, John Griffin Bozarth. Her daughter in law, Marina Renee Bozarth. Her grandchildren, John Waylon Bozarth and Brenna Ruth Bozarth.
She is also survived by her mother, Alice Allenbach, her brothers, Paul Gylling, Craig Gylling, Scott Gylling, and Jim Allenbach, sisters, Freda Miller and Chris Paris. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children and other close family relatives.
A Celebration of Her Life will take place on August 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Juneau Christian Center. The service will be streamed to Nancy's Facebook page (11 a.m. AKDT/12 p.m. PDT) for viewing.
