COLFAX - The annual Palouse Threshing Bee is coming back another round of harvesting, featuring new and old machines to celebrate farming history.
The Threshing Bee is taking place the weekend before the fair, Sunday, Sept. 1.
"The Threshing should be up and running about 10 a.m.," said Co-Organizer Eric Reiber.
Reiber said a no-host lunch of shredded roast beef sandwiches, pasta salad, baked beans and cookies which will take place at the community building at the fairgrounds.
"We'll stop around noon for lunch, and then go into the afternoon to get it done," Reiber said.
Reiber said attendees can see the horses and the teamsters out with the horses harvesting with the push header and the header boxes pulled by horses and mules.
"We'll have the steam engine running and a stationary threshing machine," Reiber said, adding that they are hoping to have at least one pull combine, but won't know for sure yet if that will be there.
The Threshing Bee will feature a brand new combine as well as the old combines.
"The new combine and the Threshing Bee machine are right around 100 years apart," Reiber said.
"It's just a sure sign that the fair is coming," Reiber said, noting the space plowed is a parking lot for the Fair right across from the back entrance to the fairgrounds.
The fair is taking place this year from Sept. 5 to Sept. 7, at 322 Fair Grounds Road.
"I just hope we get lots of people out to look," Reiber said.
