Serving Whitman County since 1877

Dr. Conrad joins local hospital staff

COLFAX — Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics has a new doctor — Brent Conrad.

Born and raised in Colfax, Conrad, 31, is starting full-time this month.

A 2012 graduate of Colfax High School, Conrad said his medical career started by shadowing Dr. Johnson in high school.

“I felt like my calling was to come back to Whitman County and serve,” Conrad said, adding he previously provided summer coverage at the local hospital.

Conrad said he earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho.

“I was part of the first class of medical at Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University,” Conrad said, adding he received his residency training in family medicine.

Conrad said he will be helping in the hospital emergency room but is also a family doctor.

“I do just general primary care,” he said.

Meeting the need of the community he grew up in is what matters most to Conrad, he said.

“It was apparent to me even back in high school when I was shadowing just how the ability to have care in rural areas is important,” Conrad said, adding working in the clinic the last couple of weeks has allowed him to connect with people.

“With every patient, I consider it an honor to get to be their primary care doctor,” Conrad said. “I look forward to a long career of serving Whitman County.”
