Vikings football falls, volleyball wins

The Garfield-Palouse Vikings football team fell to Almira-Coulee-Hartline (ACH), 54-28, on Saturday, Sept. 14.

A big first half in which ACH outscored the Vikings 36-6, sealed Gar-Pal’s fate. The Vikings pushed back, scoring 14 points in the final quarter.

The Vikings will next play an away game against Wilbur-Creston at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20. Their next home game will be against Dayton at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, in Palouse.

The Gar-Pal volleyball team defeated the Waitsburg Vikings, 3-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Set scores were 25-5, 25-15 and 25-9. Kyra Brantner and Claire Bowechop each had six kills in the match. Morgan Lentz had eight assists, with Kaylee Kimble getting six. Bowechop had 12 aces and Aubrey Chambers had three digs. Brantner and Molly Huffman each had one block.

Next up for the Vikings is an away match against Tekoa-Rosalia at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 19, in Tekoa.
