Pullman city council meets

Pullman city council discusses housing legislation

PULLMAN — The Pullman City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24, where key topics on the agenda included updates on 2024 housing legislation and a presentation on public entity finances.

The meeting, to be presided over by Mayor Francis A. Benjamin, provided residents with an opportunity to engage in two public comment sessions — one for non-agenda-related comments and another specifically for final action items.

A presentation led by Jeff Elbracht, Director of Finance and Administrative Services, will educate attendees on the city’s financial state, with a focus on fund and cash balances.

Additionally, Community Development Director RJ Lott will present an update on new and proposed housing legislation, including reforms to zoning laws and measures aimed at increasing affordable housing options in Pullman.

The council also reviewed and approved disbursements for accounts payable, which total nearly $4 million across various budgeted items.

The meeting took place at City Hall and occurred after the Whitman County Gazette went to press.
