PULLMAN — Students, faculty, and staff at Washington State University (WSU) returned this fall to an upgraded Student Recreation Center (SRC) after significant renovations were completed over the summer.
Among the major upgrades was the resurfacing of the basketball, volleyball, and sport courts, which were sanded, repaired, and refinished.
Courts were added to meet growing demand for volleyball, pickleball, and badminton.
The pool deck and locker room floors also received a multilayered acrylic coating, which makes them easier to maintain and less slippery when wet.
The same treatment was applied to the Chinook Student Center’s locker room floors and foot wash stations.
A major project involved the overhaul of the pool’s mechanical room, where new filters, pumps, and a chlorine feeder were installed.
Fitness equipment was installed, including treadmills, stair steppers, ellipticals, exercise bikes and a Synergee Power Rack and Pulley System.
The roof of the facility was resurfaced to address persistent leaking issues.
The $4 million renovation was funded primarily through student fees, with each undergraduate on the Pullman campus contributing $170 for the academic year.
