Armstrong takes guilty plea

Faced multiple assault charges in Superior Court

COLFAX — A man facing multiple charges of assault of law enforcement officers pled guilty.

Darien Leaf Armstrong, 26, jury trial was stricken after he entered a plea of guilty to charges.

According to past reports, the case began when officer Holden Humphrey was initially dispatched with other officers at 4:22 p.m. June 27 to 845 S.E. Spring St., for a report of an assault.

Armstrong was arrested for threatening and hitting a man later identified as Christopher Hundahusen, Humphrey reported.

Armstrong is reported to have assaulted officers while being detained, was transported to the Whitman County Jail and charged with six counts of third-degree assault.

Humphrey reports he received injuries to his arm and back as a result of overexertion from trying to restrain Armstrong, records show.

He was initially arrested for a fourth-degree assault charge.

Armstrong was arraigned Friday, Sept. 6, in Whitman County Superior Court and two counts of custodial assault were requested.

Armstrong is being held on a $2,500 cash bail through Superior Court on charges of fourth-degree assault and three counts of third-degree assault.

Armstrong’s Jury Trial was waived and he now faces a sentencing hearing on Friday, Oct. 25.
