Hounds football falls to Pirates

Pullman is now 1-5 on the season

PULLMAN — The Pullman Greyhounds took an early lead but ultimately fell short, falling to the Rogers Pirates of Spokane on Friday, Oct. 11.

Early in the first quarter, Pullman opened the scoring on a 6-yard touchdown pass that clipped the corner pylon. The point-after-touchdown (PAT) kick was good and the Greyhounds had a 7-0 lead.

Rogers answered late in the second quarter on an 8-yard touchdown pass to the left corner. The PAT kick was blocked by the Pullman defense and the Greyhounds held their lead.

With 1:15 to go in the first half, Pullman stuck again, this time on a 33-yard touchdown pass. The PAT kick was good and the Greyhounds held a 14-6 lead.

Just 13 seconds left in the half, the Pirates evened the ship and scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass. The PAT runs was good on a quarterback keeper and the game was tied at 14 all heading into halftime.

Pullman was unable to score for the rest of the game.

Late in the third quarter, Rogers scored on a 13-yard touchdown run to take a 21-14 lead. The final score of the game came at the 7:30 mark of the fourth quarter when the Pirates scored on a 12-yard interception return, bringing the final score to 28-14 in favor of Rogers.

Pullman moves to 1-5 on the season and will next play the North Central Wolfpack at ONE Spokane Stadium in Spokane at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17.
