Colfax football gets a flawless victory

COLFAX - In a night to celebrate its senior class, the Colfax Bulldogs dismantled the Davenport Gorillas, 32-0, on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Senior running back John Largent had three rushing touchdowns and senior wide receiver Zach Cooper had a touchdown reception in the Northeast 2B League shutout victory.

Largent opened the scoring halfway through the opening quarter on a 10-yard TD run. Largent scored again with 19 seconds left in the first half with a 4-yard rushing TD.

At the start of the second half, the Gorillas attempted an onside kick, but the attempt was botched and Colfax got excellent field advantage, taking over at the Davenport 43-yard line. At the end of the third quarter, Colfax had built a 20-0 lead.

Early in the third quarter, Cooper caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Reed. The Bulldogs would strike again with 48 seconds remaining in the game on a 42-yard TD run by Largen, bringing the final score to 32-0 in favor of Colfax.
