LACROSSE — The Tekoa-Rosalia volleyball team played its final match of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 22, with an away match loss against the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse (SJEL) Eagles.
The Eagles won the Southeast 1B League match, 3-0, with set scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-17.
Tekoa-Rosalia began the season with a loss to the Chesterton Academy Knights in a five-set battle, and a 3-0 loss to the Pomeroy Pirates. The Timberwolves won their first match on Thursday, Sept. 12, in a 3-1 victory over the Dayton Bulldogs.
The next two matches were a tough route for the Timberwolves as they fell to the No. 1 team in the state, the Oakesdale Nighthawks, and the No. 2 team in the 1B Southeast, the Garfield-Palouse Vikings. The Timberwolves managed to take a set from the Vikings.
After a 3-1 victory against the Waitsburg Cardinals, Tekoa-Rosalia fell to SJEL, 3-1.
The beginning of October was a good stretch for the Timberwolves as they won their next four matches in a row. They defeated the Colton Wildcats, avenged their loss against Pomeroy in a five-set brawl and beat Selkirk and Cusick. The match against Pomeroy was the only set loss for the Timberwolves during that run.
Tekoa-Rosalia then fell in the next four matches. Dayton got revenge against the Timberwolves and Tekoa-Rosalia had to again face the Nighthawks and Vikings. Colton managed to eke out a win against Tekoa-Rosalia in a five-set matchup.
The Timberwolves got a 3-0 victory against Waitsburg for its final home match of the season on Thursday, Oct. 17. Tekoa-Rosalia then fell to the Eagles for its last match.
Tekoa-Rosalia will graduate seniors Clare Wilkins, Libby Lehn, Briley Smith and Denali Chase. Juniors Kailey McElderry, Ashlynne Moore, Kayla Eilertson and Megan Maley will look to step up and lead the team next season.
