Timberwolves football falls to Vikings

Tekoa-Rosalia drops to 2-5

PALOUSE - The Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves dropped a Southeast 1B League matchup against the Garfield-Palouse (Gar-Pal) Vikings, 48-6, on Friday, Oct. 25.

The Vikings scored three touchdowns to open the game on TD runs by junior Lane Collier from 27 and 31 yards out, and an 11-yard TD run by junior Kaleb Kelnhofer. The Timberwolves found themselves in a fourth-and-6 situation and had to go for it. They completed the pass, but fell just over a yard shy of the first down.

With four seconds remaining in the first quarter, the Vikings scored on a 13-yard touchdown pass from senior Bryce Pfaff to senior Macent Rardon, giving Gar-Pal a 26-0 advantage at the end of the quarter.

To start the second quarter, the Timberwolves offense drove the ball to the Vikings 22-yard line, but again faced a fourth down. The Gar-Pal defense held strong and the ball was turned over on downs with six minutes to go in the first half.

The Vikings scored twice before the end of the half on runs by Collier from 11 and 12 yards out. At halftime Gar-Pal led, 42-0.

Vikings freshman Cooper Wells scored early in the second half on a 10-yard TD run, but that would be the last touchdown the Timberwolves would allow.

The Tekoa-Rosalia defense took cues from coach Logan O'Neill and played a much more skilled game for the rest of the night.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves stopped the shutout with junior Soren Braun scoring on a 16-yard touchdown run. Halfway through the final quarter, the Gar-Pal offense faced its own fourth-down situation and went for it. The Timberwolves defense stood strong and turned the ball over on downs at midfield.

With the running clock, time wound down and the Vikings won the game, 48-6.

The Timberwolves next face the Touchet Indians for a Grape/Wheat crossover game at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, in Touchet.
