Trump dominates race in Eastern Washington

Most counties go red, but not Whitman

COLFAX - Take a look at the Nov. 5 election map and the only place you will see blue in Eastern Washington is Whitman County.

Due to the influence of Washington State University students and faculty, Kamala Harris got a tepid nod to be president, edging former President Donald J. Trump by a mere 400 votes.

At the end of counting Tuesday night, Harris received 5,748 votes in Whitman County; Trump received 5,343.

But that's the only place east of the Cascades, Harris got the nod.

And in this election, as Eastern Washington goes, so goes the nation.

National media was calling the Nov. 5 general election in favor of Trump by midnight.

That aligns with Eastern Washington, where Trump dominated Adams, Franklin, Grant, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Spokane and other counties.

In Spokane County, Trump received 106,118 votes and Harris, 97,756. Several counties broke even harder for trump, with Adams going 73.42% for Trump and Lincoln going 73.63%.

Harris' strongest showing in Washington is in Island County, where she received 75.03% support.
