Open Letter to Whitman County Commissioners RE: Harvest Hills

Dear Whitman County Commissioners:

What is the proper role of government? Answer: “To protect the rights of the people.”

I hear you’re failing County residents in regard to Harvest Hills.

You were elected by County residents, not by a global corporation wanting to plunder and destroy County Ag land. That land can NEVER be remediated once developed. No matter what’s in a contract, or any ordinance, it’s foolish to believe otherwise. Look at the concrete and rebar at the base of those gigantic turbines.

Large-scale industrial wind exists to defraud taxpayers, while enriching outsiders with no concern for the environment. County residents who benefit are lease-holders, while neighbors lose the right to enjoy their private property and any expectation of peace and a rural lifestyle without industrial blight looming above. Property values will be destroyed and a myriad of potential harms unleashed. Due diligence shows health risks to nearby residents, their livestock and pets.

Stand-up for your Constituents! It’s never too late to do the right thing.

You say that Washington Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (an entity with NO Constitutional authority to even exist) “may” overrule any moratorium placed on this development. Go on record, by supporting your constituents with a permanent halt on this project! What do you have to lose? You’ll gain respect.

I urge a stop to all future wind projects in Whitman County. “The buck stops with you.” Take it to the Supreme Court if necessary.
