Fire department fundraiser serves over 170 people
ROSALIA- The Fire Department volunteers closed out another annual pig roast fundraiser bringing in a crowd of supportive community Saturday, Nov. 2.
The fundraiser served over 170 people, Rosalia Fire Chief Laura Lautenschlager said.
Lautenschlager said they had 60 items in the Silent Auction.
"Everything sold," she said. "There was a variety of gift baskets, a BB gun, a drum of oil and various gift certificates."
All the proceeds from the event go back into the fire department and the Rosalia community.
"The funds are typically used to purchase needed equipment and upgrades to the building," Lautenschlager said. "It goes back into the community for local scholarships and the Giving Tree."
Lautenschlager said the funds have helped to purchase new turnouts, gear used when the firefighters are fighting structure fires.
"We put in new sinks recently," she said, adding they have plans to take out all the carpets in the building and upgrade the flooring.
"We are so grateful for the community we live in and their continued support," Lautenschlager said. "It's definitely difficult maintaining a volunteer fire department and we appreciate the support."
