The View From Here: November Holiday Happenings

Event time changes for the holiday seasons

November has arrived and has announced its presence on this rainy cold Monday morning with SNOW!

And not just occasional small flakes but a speedy cascade of puffy wet clumps. Combine that with Sunday’s “fall back” return from Daylight Savings Time, add a 4:27 p.m. sunset, and stir well.

With November comes, Thanksgiving and numerous holiday happenings.

Among them are a few date changes for regularly scheduled events at the Garfield American Legion Hall: The weekly Garfield Farmers’ Market will be taking a break this Sunday, Nov. 10, and returning to its regular 2-6 p.m. time slot next Sunday, Nov. 17. In its place, this Sunday, the Legion 24 Post Auxiliary will be hosting a free Veterans’ Day Appreciation Dinner at the Hall from 5-7 p.m.

Next week, the November community luncheon will take place at noon on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Finally, the Garfield food pantry will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 21. Whew! Are you as confused as I am? The schedule will return to normal very soon, I promise.

November also marks the official start of holiday craft fairs.

The Ladies Aid group at the Garfield Christian Fellowship (GCF) has been working for months on a variety of crafts to sell to support their mission donation program.

On Saturday, November 23, they will be showcasing these items at the 12th Annual Mrs. Claus Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Latah County Fair and Events Center, located at 1021 Harold Street, Moscow.

That same day, the GCF will be hosting a free Thanksgiving Community Dinner from 3 to 6 p.m., at the church, located at 303 N. 3rd Street in Garfield.

All are welcome to attend. Remember to bring your appetite!
