MOSCOW, IDAHO — The Moscow Police Department (PD) is investigating a report of a possible stranger-on-stranger sexual assault that allegedly took place near the University of Idaho campus on Monday, Nov. 11.
According to Moscow PD, an officer received the report from friends of the woman, identified as the possible victim, at around 9 p.m.
According to the police report, the woman said she was walking home to the Wallace Dormitory when she was assaulted at approximately 6 p.m.
She told police a vehicle pulled up beside her, and a man forced her inside and assaulted her before letting her go and fleeing the scene.
The woman was unable to describe the attacker or the vehicle.
A University of Idaho Vandal Alert was issued Tuesday, Nov. 12, regarding the assault report.
Moscow Police acknowledged the fear that such alerts could cause within the community and assured residents that they were investigating the report thoroughly.
In a press release, Moscow Police noted that a recent report of a stranger-on-stranger rape on Washington State University’s campus was found to be unsubstantiated.
Moscow officers do not have further information regarding an individual targeting multiple people in the area.
