COLFAX — The Washington State Patrol (WSP) has resumed firearms background checks after a two-week suspension caused by security concerns with the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) data systems.
The WSP’s Secure Automated Firearms E-Check (SAFE) system regained connectivity with the AOC data repository on Sunday, Nov. 17, allowing delayed checks to resume.
During the outage, WSP processed non-AOC-related requests to minimize disruptions. On average, the agency receives 700 background check requests daily.
