Mission trip deadline looms

COLFAX –– The deadline to join in on one of two mission trips to Puerto Penasco, Mexico, and Costa Rica is less than a month away, with a deadline of Dec. 15.

Local Colfax pastor Michael Birnbaum is the director of Well Child International and founder of International Service Learning, who will be taking mission trip participants to the locations to assist in a variety of community projects, with a host of fun activities to experience.

The organizations often seek health professionals to assist with neighborhood clinics, door-to-door community health evaluations, and more, but have opportunities for people of all backgrounds to assist in Puerto Penasco and Costa Rica.

The trips will take place from Feb. 1 to Feb. 8. The Puerto Penasco trip starts with a flight into Pheonix, with land crossing into Mexico. Costa Rica participants will fly into San Jose, Costa Rica. There is a cost of $1195, plus a $150 deposit to participate, with discounts for bringing a friend. Participants must have a valid passport or enhanced drivers license for land crossing into Mexico.

Reservations for the trip can be made at https://wellchildinternational.org/service-and-mission-groups/.

During the 2023 mission trip to Puerto Penasco, assisted with a variety of community projects including light construction, sewing tutorials and health clinics. The group was also treated with daily activities including visiting local and tourist restaurants, shopping, cultural dance lessons, beach day, boat rides and more.

For both trips the organizations will provide hotels, daily meals, transportations, interpreters, guides, touring opportunites and airport shuttles.
