Gar-Pal basketball returns all but one starter on the team
PALOUSE — With the Garfield-Palouse (Gar-Pal) Vikings football season just coming to an end last Saturday, the boys basketball team will get little rest before the start of the basketball season.
The total roster number is still TBD as football just got done, but coach Nate Holbrook said it looks like his team will have 25 players.
Seniors this year include cross country runners Brendan and Kieran Snekvik, both playing guard, along with football players Bryce Pfaff (guard), Landon Orr (post) and Macent Rardon (post).
The Vikings finished last season with a record of 14-6. Their last game was a 46-41 loss to the Pomeroy Pirates (18-5 last season).
This will be Holbrook’s third season at the helm of the Vikings and is assisted by Aarong Flansburg.
Gar-Pal will return all but one starter from last year (Colton Pfaff), and with a large roster with multi-sport players, the Vikings will look to be a force on the court.
“With 25 boys out, the boys will have to continually compete or someone will take their position,” Holbrooks said.
The Vikings will open their season with an away game against the 2B Colfax Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3. Their first home game will be against the Colton Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in Palouse.
