Legislation provides free math tutoring

ST. JOHN —The St. John-Endicott Schools announced free math tutoring for students in grades 6 through 12.

The state legislature approved funding for a math tutoring program across Washington.

Math Nation awarded the contract to facilitate the legislated request, with goals to reduce disparities in student performance and improve algebraic achievement to create a statewide interactive math tutoring tool for middle and high school students. It is accessible 24 hours a day for students, teachers and parents.

The program, Math Nation-Washington, is now available at no-cost to Washington public schools due to a partnership between Accelerate Learning and the State of Washington.

According to the legislation, the community learning center program, purpose, grants and reports, and is administered by the office of the superintendent of public instruction. (RCW 28A.215.060)

The legislation is to support the creation or expansion of community learning centers that provide students with tutoring and educational enrichment when school is not in session, provide training and professional development for community learning center program staff and increase public awareness of the availability of after-school programs.
