Herbert D. Haase

Herbert passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2024.

Born April 6, 1937, to J. John and Bertha (Kron) Haase in Ritzville, Wash. Herbert graduated from Washtucna High School in 1955 and went on to attend Wenatchee Valley College. He then transferred to Kinman Business University, during his second year he was drafted into the Army.

Herbert graduated from Kinman Business University by correspondence courses in 1961 while in the service. He served 2 years active duty at Brooke Army Medical Center on Fort Sam Houston Army Base in San Antonio, Texas. He was discharged in December of 1962 but went on to serve three years active reserves.

On December 10, 1967, Herb married Janice (Shaw) Haase. In 1969, he started his career with Adam's County Department of Public Works and retired in 1997. He then started his second career working for Grant Miller of Miller Farms until he retired in September of 2020. After Herb retired from Adam's County in 1997, he and Janice moved to Asotin, Wash., where they lived until they moved to their cabin in the Blue Mountains (Pomeroy, Wash.) in 2020.

Herbert is preceded in death by his wife Janice Haase in 2021, his son Jay Haase in 1983, his grandson Oliver Long in 2005, and his sister Wilma Brewer in 2023.

Herbert Haase is survived by his brother Robert (Noralene) Haase of Edwall, his sister Linda (Bobby) Dean of Medical Lake, his son James Haase of Florida, Joseph Long (Kelly) of Portland, Ore., and Jeannine Parkins of Lind, Wash. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service for Herb will be Friday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m., in the Colfax Cemetery. Pastor Bob Ingalls will officiate. On-line guest book is at http://www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com
