After the the monthly Garfield Community Luncheon, last Thursday, Hollis Jamison (who, along with his lovely wife, Helen, is a local hero) and I were turning down the thermostat and locking the door of the former American Legion Hall, where lunch had been served.
When we finished, we stopped at a display of various black and white photographs of Post 24’s history. One of them, “The Boys of Whitman County,” showed about two dozen military photographs and brief bios of men-boys, really-who’d served during World War One.
