Colton girls go 2-1 on the week

Defeat Timberwolves, fall to Cardinals, Nighthawks

COLTON — The Colton Wildcats girls basketball team won a game, but lost two in their last three matchups over the week.

The Wildcats defeated the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves, 51-30, on Friday, Dec. 13 before beating the Waitsburg Cardinals, 67-17, on Saturday, Dec. 14. The Wildcats then fell to the Oakesdale Nighthawks on Monday, Dec. 16.

Against the Cardinals, the Wildcats defense held Waitsburg to single digits in each quarter of the game. At the end of the first quarter, the Wildcats amassed a 23-5 lead. At halftime, Colton led, 37-7.

Colton increased its lead to 51-11 to end the third quarter before winning the game, 67-17.

Ella Nollmeyer led the Wildcats with 31 points, Clair Moehrle added 12 and Rory Weber scored 11 points in the game.

The Wildcats next faced the Oakesdale Nighthawks on Monday, Dec. 16.

The Nighthawks gained a 15-6 lead to end the first quarter and led, 26-8, at halftime. Oakesdale built a 40-16 lead to end the third quarter before winning the game against Colton, 48-28.

Colton moved to 2-3 on the season. Next up for the Wildcats will be to take on the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse Eagles at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20.
