Vikings defeat SJEL, 77-4
ST. JOHN - On Friday, Dec. 13, the Garfield-Palouse (Gar-Pal) girls basketball team defeated the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse (SJEL) Eagles, 77-4, in a Southeast 1B League matchup.
The Vikings dominated on both sides of the ball, with the defense holding SJEL to two points in the first, none in the second, two in the third and shutting out the Eagles in the fourth. The Gar-Pal offense scored 33 points in the first, 15 in the second, 17 in the third and 12 in the fourth.
Elena Flansburg led the Vikings with 14 points, hitting two 3-pointers on six field goals. Molly Huffman added 13 points on six field goals and Kyra Brantner scored 12 points on six field goals. Taia Gehring contributed 11 points, with Reisse Johnson and Ellie Collier each scoring nine points. Collier also had six steals and four assists.
Gar-Pal moves to 4-1 on the season, 3-0 in League play.
The game against the Dayton Bulldogs scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14, was postponed due to illness of the Dayton players. The game has been rescheduled for Friday, Jan. 31.
The Vikings will next take on the Pomeroy Pirates at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in Palouse.
