Timberwolf girls fall to Wildcats and Pirates

Tekoa-Rosalia goes 0-2 on the weekend

TEKOA - It was a tough weekend for the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves girls basketball team as they fell to the Colton Wildcats on Friday, Dec. 13, and the Pomeroy Pirates on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The Wildcats defeated the Timberwolves, 51-30, while Pomeroy beat Tekoa-Rosalia, 45-35.

Against the Pirates, Tekoa-Rosalia gained a small lead to start the game. At the end of the first quarter, the Timberwolves led, 8-5. Pomeroy took the lead in the second quarter, gaining a 20-16 advantage at halftime.

The Timberwolves kept pace with the Pirates for the remainder of the game until Pomeroy won, 45-35.

Libby Lehn led the Timberwolves with 11 points on three field goals and going 5-for-9 at the free-throw line. Clare Wilkins added nine points and Hanna Douglas contributed eight.

Next up for the Timberwolves was to take on 2B opponent Upper Columbia Academy Lions on Tuesday, Dec. 17, after press time. Tekoa-Rosalia will take on the Waitsburg Cardinals at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in an away game before returning home to play the Garfield-Palouse Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, in Rosalia.
