T-R boys drop two games

Timberwolves fall in a pair of Southeast 1B League games

ROSALIA — The Tekoa-Rosalia (T-R) boys lost a pair of Southeast 1B League matchups last weekend, falling to the Waitsburg Cardinals on Friday, Dec. 20, and the Garfield-Palouse (Gar-Pal) Vikings on Saturday, Dec. 21.

The game against the Cardinals was a fight to the finish as the Timberwolves fell by just two points, 35-33. The Vikings defeated the Timberwolves, 61-16.

Against Waitsburg, the Cardinals gained a 13-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and led by eight points (20-12) at halftime. The Timberwolves fought back in the third quarter, closing the game and trailing the Cardinals, 33-29, at the end of the third quarter.

Fighting to the finish, the Timberwolves held the Cardinals to two points in the final quarter, and gained four, but the comeback fell just short with Waitsburg getting the two-point win.

On Saturday, the Timberwolves fell to the Vikings in Rosalia.

Gar-Pal led 23-7 at the end of the first quarter and took a 37-10 lead at halftime. T-R added four points in the third quarter and none in the fourth while the Vikings scored 14 in the third and 10 in the fourth.

Seth Rerecich led the Timberwolves with five points, followed by Westley Bryan with four, Ty Weldy with three and Soren Braun with two.

Next up for the Timberwolves will be an away game against the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3. T-R will return home the next night with a game against the Oakesdale Nighthawks at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, in Rosalia.
