Tekoa-Rosalia girls medal at Powerhouse

Colfax girls compete at M2 Mallet

COULEE DAM - Two Tekoa-Rosalia girls brought home medals from the Powerhouse wrestling tournament at Lake Roosevelt High School on Saturday, Dec. 21.

Meanwhile, the Colfax girls wrestling team struggled to get a win at the M2 Mallet girls tournament at Rogers High School in Spokane.

At Lake Roosevelt, Tekoa-Rosalia senior Lulu Taylor won the 190-pound title, her second title in two weeks. Teammate Raeshelle Keatts, an eighth-grader, took third at 115 pounds.

T-wolves eighth-grader Ellie Terry finished fourth at 145 and freshman Aislinn Gamble was fifth at 130.

The Tekoa-Rosalia girls finished eighth as a team with 9.5 points; Tonasket won the tournament with 80.0 team points, followed by Wilbur-Creston with 60.0 and Lake Roosevelt with 52.5.

While the Tekoa-Rosalia girls were competing in Coulee Dam, the Colfax girls were taking on competitors in Spokane at M2 Mallet.

Colfax finished 24th as a team with 11.0 team points; Southridge (Kennewick) won the team title with 189.5 points, followed by University and Quincy in second and third, respectively.

At 120 pounds, senior Grace Jones had the best showing for the Bulldogs. She went 2-2 in the tournament, but didn't place.

At 235, Dory Doty went 1-2 and Trinity Burd went 0-2; neither placed.

The tournaments were the second in two weeks for the Whitman County girls.

Warden Invite

On Dec. 14, both Tekoa-Rosalia and Colfax went to the Warden Women's Invite.

Ephrata won the team title with 182 team points, followed by Grandview with 146.5 and Okanogan with 127.0.

Tekoa-Rosalia scored 30 team points to finish 18th overall and Colfax scored 16.0 to finish 20th.

At Warden, Taylor won the 190-pound title for the Timberwolves after pinning second-place finisher Tessa Hausken of Ephrata in 3:01.

Wrestling at 135 pounds, Gamble posted the only other win for the Timberwolves, pinning Justina Reyes of White Swan in 1:24. However, she didn't place.

Neither Terry nor Keatts won a bout at Warden.

Three Colfax girls placed in the Top 6.

At 235, Doty took fifth place and Burd sixth.

Meanwhile, Bulldog teammate Lillyanna Hammer also finished sixth overall at 115 pounds.

Jones, competing at 120 pounds, won two bouts, but didn't place.
