Hospital District No. 3 gives November financial report

COLFAX — Whitman County Public Hospital District No. 3 commissioners approved an undesignated capital request for the urology department.

During the regular board meeting, Wednesday, Dec. 18, Commissioner Kathy Wride requested approval from the board for the two urology requests including $60,000 for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) software and $62,000 for a chair for special urology exams.

The board unanimously passed designating $122,000 in funds to urology.

Wride reported the fluoroscopy unit completed.

Fluoroscopy is a medical imaging technique using x-rays to create real-time video of the inside of the body.

The board approved cash disbursements in the amount of $4,229,969.55 for the month of November.

Wride reported the statistics for the month of November with patient days down 38% from last year and down 16% year to date.

There were 34 surgeries during the month of November down 26% year to date, and primary care clinic visits are down 23% from last year, down 17% year to date.

Specialty clinic visits were up 83% from last year and up 24% year to date.

“We’re going to see those numbers increase,” reported Wride, adding this is due to the increase in specialists.

Regarding financial statements for the month, Wride reported the net revenue 2.5% under budget and expenses 2.6% over budget.

The operating income came to $37,500, net income $193,000 and purchase services were 14% over budget.

For Medicare the hospital has seen approximately $1.6 million in additional reimbursements for the end of April 2025.

Net patient revenue was 8.1% under budget, expenses 1.3% under budget, an operating loss of $3.2 million and a net loss of $458,000, with purchase services 32% over budget.
