GARFIELD — The tree is down, decorations packed away, and gifts have found their new homes.
Due to Christmas and New Year’s Day falling on Wednesdays, the holiday season seemed extended this year. But, as they say, all good things come to an end. This week, the routine returns: Kids and adults are back to school and work.
Garfield Librarian Andrea Mills went out of her way to fill the January calendar with several interesting programs. The weekly story time program, every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., uses the magic of “songs, stories, skills, and snacks” to allow parents and little ones a chance to relax, get out of the house and connect with others.
On Monday, Jan. 13, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., teens and young adults are invited to a relaxing “Color, Coffee, and Cookies” event, featuring relaxing mandalas and conversation.
January’s BIG event at the Garfield Library is planned for early release day Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 12:30 p.m., a day that coincides with the Lunar New Year. Scheduled activities include a timed Lego STEM challenge, paper lantern craft, math fun, fortune cookies and prizes! Bring on the Year of the Snake!
