Pullman boys and girls get the win
PULLMAN - The Pullman Greyhounds boys and girls basketball team both defeated the Lakeside (Nine Mile) Eagles on Friday, Jan. 3.
The boys won, 62-48, and the girls won 47-42.
For the boys, the game was tied at 12-12 to end the first quarter before Pullman gained a nine-point advantage heading into halftime ahead, 30-21. Each team scored 16 points in the third quarter and the Greyhounds pulled ahead in the final frame, scoring another 16 points and holding the Eagles to 11 for the win.
Daniel Kwon scored 30 points for the Greyhounds with Vaughn Holstad adding 15.
For the girls, the Greyhounds had to come back from a 12-9 deficit to end the first quarter. After gaining 11 points in the second and holding the Eagles to eight, the halftime score was tied at 20-20.
Lakeside took the lead to end the third quarter ahead, 33-28, but an 18-point fourth quarter by the Greyhounds secured the win, holding the eagles to nine points in the final frame.
Grace Kuhle led the Greyhounds with 22 points, followed by Taylor Darling with 12 and River Sykes scoring eight.
Next up for the Greyhounds will be to take on the West Valley Eagles on Friday, Jan. 10, in Pullman. The girls game will start at 5:30 p.m. with the boys to follow at 7 p.m.
