Sports slated for this weekend

Whitman County athletic events

Several local basketball teams will face off Jan. 10 and 11 as the season continues.

The Pullman Greyhounds will take on the West Valley (Spokane) Eagles today, Jan. 10. The girls game will start at 5:30 p.m. with the boys to follow at 7 p.m.

Also today, Jan. 10, the Garfield-Palouse Vikings will play at home in Palouse against the Waitsburg Cardinals with the girls game starting at 6 p.m. and the boys following at 7:30 p.m. The Vikings will then travel to Dayton for matchups against the Bulldogs with the girls game starting at 4 p.m. and the boys following at 5:30 p.m.

The Oakesdale Nighthawks will play a pair of Southeast 1B matchups this weekend, facing the Colton Wildcats on Friday and the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse (SJEL) Eagles on Saturday. On Friday, the girls game will start at 6 p.m. and the boys will play at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the girls game will begin at 4 p.m. with the boys starting at 5:30 p.m.

SJEL will take on the Pomeroy Pirates in away games on Friday, Jan. 10 with the girls game starting at 6 p.m. and the boys following at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles will then play the Nighthawks on Saturday, as previously mentioned.

The Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves will face the Dayton Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 10, with the girls game starting at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m. The Timberwolves will then play the Pomeroy Pirates on Saturday, Jan. 11, with the girls game starting at 4 p.m. and the boys at 5:30 p.m.

After taking on the Nighthawks, the Colton Wildcats will travel to Waitsburg to play the Cardinals on Saturday, Jan. 11. The girls game will start at 4 p.m., with the boys to follow at 5:30 p.m.

For the Colfax, the Bulldogs will play the Lind-Ritzville-Sprague Broncos at home on Saturday, Jan. 11. The girls will start at 4:30 p.m. with the boys game starting at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, the Colfax boys wrestling team will travel to Warden with matches beginning at 10 a.m.

The Tekoa-Rosalia boys wrestling team will participate in the Crusader Classic at Northwest Christian High School in Colbert, Wash., with matches starting 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11.
