New residents to Colfax deliver first baby of the year
COLFAX - New residents Brian and Michelle Hernandez delivered the first baby born in 2025 at Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics.
Liam Hernandez Allioti, a boy, was born on Wednesday, Jan. 15, entering the world 6 pounds, 5.7 ounces and 19 inches.
The parents welcomed Liam to the family, with older brother Damian, 7, and sister Ozette, 5, who Mrs. Hernandez said are already going to school at Steptoe Elementary.
"They love it," she said. "We love it."
"We just moved from California two weeks ago, and we just got settled in," said Mr. Hernandez, noting they are excited to start Liam's life in the house they found here.
"Everybody here in the Hospital has been super nice," Mrs. Hernandez said. "The experience here was wonderful with them."
The family received a gift wagon from the hospital with donated gift cards from businesses and supplies for Liam.
Originally from Salinas, Calif., the family of five is excited to reconnect with family in the area and be a part of the community.
Liam joins paternal grandparents Rosalba and Luiz Hernandez, of Colfax, and maternal grandparents Ana and Joe Allioti.
"I have an auntie that lives in Endicott, and we wanted to get out of that fast life," Mr. Hernandez said. "We wanted to find a nice quiet little town and we found Colfax."
"We are so grateful we did," Mrs. Hernandez said.
"It's been amazing, everyone is loving, everyone is kind," Mr. Hernandez said.
Loving the outdoors they said the family is looking forward to enjoying scenery and parks that Colfax offers.
"It's a nice God loving town, slow, peaceful, tranquil," Mr. Hernandez said.
In addition to starting a new life in Colfax with their family, the couple plans to start back up their businesses.
Mr. Hernandez owns a plumbing business and Mrs. Hernandez is planning to open her salon she started in California.
"We'll transition our businesses here as well, God willing," Mr. Hernandez said.
