Pullman receives road grant

PULLMAN — The Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) awarded $348,664 to the City of Pullman for a road resurfacing project on Friday, Nov. 22.

The funds from the Arterial Preservation Program will go towards the Orchard Drive and Valley Road Resurfacing Project scheduled for construction in 2025.

“We are grateful that this project was selected for funding the Transportation Improvement Board,” City of Pullman’s Grants and Special Projects Manager Valerie Weaver said. “This project was dependent on grant funding to happen.”

The City of Pullman applied for the award in August 2024 to fund the resurfacing of Orchard Drive from Stadium Way to the Valley Road intersection with Cove Way in 2025.

“It will nicely complement the work WSU (Washington State University) completed this fall constructing a shared-use path along part of this roadway,” said Weaver, noting it neighbors the WSU Student Recreation Center, Valley Road Playfields, Beasley Coliseum and is on a Pullman Transit bus route.

The grant award covers 82.49% of the project work, with the city’s Arterial Street Fund covering the remaining local matching costs.
